<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new electrode catalyst for fuel cell, which can decrease the used amount of platinum high in activity for an oxygen reduction reaction and high in cost. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode catalyst for fuel cell contains one or more molybdenum oxides in which an atomic ratio O/Mo of oxygen O to molybdenum Mo is 2<O/Mo<3. Preferably, the molybdenum oxides contain one or more selected from a group consisting of Mo<SB>4</SB>O<SB>11+α</SB>, Mo<SB>17</SB>O<SB>47+α</SB>, Mo<SB>5</SB>O<SB>14+α</SB>, Mo<SB>8</SB>O<SB>23+α</SB>, Mo<SB>26</SB>O<SB>75+α</SB>, Mo<SB>9</SB>O<SB>26+α</SB>, Mo<SB>19</SB>O<SB>55+α</SB>, and Mo<SB>13</SB>O<SB>38+α</SB>, where α are -0.01≤α≤0.01 respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
