MOVING PICTURE RECORDING METHOD, AND APPARATUS THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving picture recording method which is more excellent in compressing efficiency, and to provide an apparatus thereof.

SOLUTION: This moving picture recording method includes a block unit movement retrieval step for calculating the moving vector of a block; a similar movement region setting step for setting the block having a similar moving vector among moving vectors calculated by the block unit movement retrieval step; a representative moving vector calculation step for calculating a representative moving vector by using the moving vector of each block included in the similar movement region set in the similar movement region setting step; a selection step for selecting which of the representative vector calculated by the representative moving vector calculation step and the moving vector of each block should be used for each block of the similar movement region; and an encoded data generation step for generating the moving vector selected based on the selection result of the selection step and the predicted picture of each block generated by using the moving vector as encoded data about each block of the similar movement region.
