<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a portion of developer carried on a developing roller, which projects from the width of output paper, from being given unnecessary stresses. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 forms a toner image, by sticking toner to an electrostatic latent image on the surface of a photoreceptor drum 10 by the developing device 13. In the developing device 13, two-component developer comprising toner components and magnetic carrier is carried on the surface of the developing roller 33 by magnetic field. A regulating member 35 for regulating the layer thickness of the developer includes a non-magnetic blade 37 and magnetic plates 41 and 42 supported by the non-magnetic blade 37. The width of the magnetic plate 41 is slightly larger than the width of A3 size paper, set with its shorter side at the top, and the width of the magnetic plate 42 is slightly larger than A4 size paper, set with its shorter side at the top. By making the shaft 36 rotate to invert the non-magnetic blade 37 vertically, the magnetic plate 41 and the magnetic plate 42 are used for different purposes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
