<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having improved EP4 receptor modulator activity, concretely, an EP4 receptor antagonist useful for treatment, especially treatment of pain and inflammatory state. <P>SOLUTION: The compound is represented by formula (I) (wherein A is a phenyl group or the like; B is an aryl or the like; E is a 1,4-phenylene group; R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom or the like; R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom or the like; R<SP>5</SP>is -CO<SB>2</SB>H or the like; R<SP>6</SP>is an alkyl group containing 1-6 carbon atoms or the like; and X is a methylene group or the like). The compound is useful for treating a disease state such as a mammalian pain mediated through prostaglandin. The compound acts as an antagonist of prostaglandin E2 receptor.
