PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress uneven exposure from being caused by a change of what is called cut characteristics during self-timer photography, remote control photography, etc., in a camera which creates a live view state by holding a trailing curtain by an electromagnet. SOLUTION: An imaging device has an imaging means of picking up an image by an imaging element which performs photoelectric conversion, a shutter means of controlling travels of a front curtain and the rear curtain to expose the imaging element, a charge means which can hold the front curtain and rear curtain with electromagnetic force so that they can not travel, a display means which can display the image captured by the imaging means in real time, and a photography control means which enables a photographer to instruct the start of photography without touching the imaging device, where when the photography control means instructs the start of photography, the shutter means releases the rear curtain from being disabled to travel before the imaging means starts the imaging operation, the display means stops displaying the image, and the charge means charges the front curtain and rear curtain before the imaging means starts the imaging operation.
