PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain operability and stability according to a sensing characteristic of a driver. SOLUTION: The steering control device is equipped with a speed sensor 11 for detecting the vehicle speed, an electronic control unit 20 for setting a target yaw rate gain or a target lateral acceleration gain as a target vehicle characteristic based on the vehicle speed detected by the speed sensor 11, and a steering actuator 30 for controlling steering of front/rear wheels so as to make a vehicle motion state approach the target vehicle characteristic set by the electronic control unit 20.
