<p>The invention provides a method and a device for improving error resilience in data transmission over a communication link that has a lower quality than that required by a particular communication mode. Such circumstances may arise for example when a physical layer does not provide adequate connection quality for a higher layer communication protocol. According to the invention, the data units of such higher layer protocol are disassembled, and data is carried over the physical layer connection in other data units that are more robust to trans mission errors.</p> |
