PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for transparent transmission of data traffic between data processing devices, a corresponding computer program product, and a corresponding computer-readable storage medium. SOLUTION: The present invention can be used especially for transparently inserting, modifying, and/or removing data packets into/in/from the data traffic by introducing a second computer system (serially connected computer system) into network coupling of a host computer. Individual packets and/or connections can be affected in a selective manner or all packets and/or connections can be affected as a whole. Furthermore, the serially connected computer system transmits data traffic between a main computer and a partner by imitating the address properties of the main computer in relation to a remote terminal and/or the address properties of the remote terminal in relation to the main computer.
