PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face image processor accurately recognizing the face of a person by reducing erroneous decisions. SOLUTION: An image is processed based on an acquired video signal, and the face of a driver D is recognized on condition that a line A connecting both nostrils P15, P16 and a line B connecting both end parts P17, P18 of a lateral direction of a mouth are parallel with each other. Thus, the condition is restricted by use of a characteristic on a structure of the face, and the erroneous decision is reduced without increasing an arithmetic load. Accordingly, the face of the driver D can be recognized with high accuracy, and a face direction angle of the driver D can be accurately detected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
