PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the removal work of a transfer material staying in a fixing device. SOLUTION: Each of the fixing device and an image forming apparatus includes: a heating means which has a heating element 17 and a belt 18; a roller 20 which forms a nip together with the heating means and conveys the transfer material; a pressure member which presses the heating means against the roller; a pressure holding member 26 which holds the pressure member and supports the pressure member; a cam member 28 which comes in contact with the pressure holding member to move the position of the pressure holding member to a pressure release position and a pressure position; a discharge roller 21 which conveys and discharges the transfer material conveyed by the roller to the outside of the device; and a guide member 60 which holds a driven rotating body 29 forming the nip together with the discharge roller. In the fixing device and the image forming apparatus, the guide member has a rotation supporting point, in positioning in a rotational oscillation direction, the cam member is positioned in the rotational oscillation direction of the guide member in the pressure position and the cam member releases positioning in the rotational oscillation direction of the guide member in the pressure release position, to allow rotation.
