PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for manufacturing a polyester capable of manufacturing polyester polymer good in color and transparency and little in the content of acetaldehyde. SOLUTION: This catalyst for manufacturing a polyester is a reaction product of (A) titanium compound component, (B) phosphorus compound component, and (C) alkaline earth metal compound component, and the reaction molar ratio of the titanium compound component in terms of titanium atom to the alkaline earth metal compound component in terms of this atom (mM), (mTi)/(mM) is in the range of (2:1)-(1:3).
