Refining metals

Metals and alloys are refined by high temp. remelting conducted continuously in two successive operations (I) and (2). Operation (1) may consist of elaborating a small ingot at a higher level and (2) may consist of remelting the ingot at a lower level. Operation (1) may be conducted under slag and (2) may be performed under slag or plas plasma. (I) may consist of remelting in an oven or in an ingot-mould one or more small ingots issuing from one or more installations in which (1) is performed.
