<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display capable of suppressing defective display, such as image retention, unevenness like stains for both the transparent type display and the reflection type display and further attaining bright display with a wide-view angle, in a translucent reflective liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display of the present invention is a translucent reflection-type liquid crystal display in a vertical orientation mode having multi-gap structure, wherein a pixel electrode 31 has a plurality of island-like parts 31a-31c and connection parts 31d, 31e for mutually and electrically connecting the adjacent island-like parts 31a-31c; two island-like parts 31b, 31c among the plurality of island-like parts 31a-31c are arranged in a transparent display area T; the remaining island-like part 31a is arranged in a reflection display area R and a boundary gap area N, where liquid crystal layer thickness varies continuously, and the connection part 31b of the pixel electrode 31 are overlapped and arranged planarly. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
