<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a period of time untill a sensor finishes a reading operation after starting a registration operation. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a plurality of photoreceptor drums 14; an intermediate transfer belt 13 to which toner images formed on the photoreceptor drums 14 are transferred; and a toner mark sensor that detects a test pattern formed on each of the photoreceptor drums 14, for correcting misregistration of the image transferred on the intermediate transfer belt 13.
