<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and the like capable of obtaining satisfactory display quality with respect to the liquid crystal display device having a retardation layer. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 50 comprises: a pair of substrates 110, 210; a liquid crystal layer 300 sandwiched between the pair of substrates 110, 210; the retardation layer 220 disposed on at least one side substrate of the pair of substrates 110, 210; an electrode 226 which is disposed on the one side substrate and is arranged so as to have a prescribed pattern on the position nearer to the liquid crystal layer 300 than the retardation layer 220; and an overcoat layer 222 arranged so as to cover the retardation layer 220 between the electrode 226 and the retardation layer 220. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
