<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sharp high-resolution image. <P>SOLUTION: The resolution enhancement device is provided with: a means acquiring a low resolution image from an image source; a means 102 enlarging the low resolution image to a high resolution image having a greater number of pixels than that of the low resolution image; a means 103 applying edge enhancement processing to the low resolution image; a means 104 detecting a plurality of correspondent points corresponding to a plurality of the target image regions nearest to a pixel pattern included in a target image region sequentially set with a sub-pixel accuracy by using the low resolution image and one of the low resolution images with an edge enhancement process applied thereto, and setting each of a plurality of pixels including the low resolution image as a target pixel; a means 106 setting pixel values of the low resolution image with an edge enhancement process applied thereto as sample values of luminance on the correspondent points when the pixels are specified as target pixels; and a means 106 performing a pixel value conversion, adding and subtracting the pixel values of the high resolution image in the direction where a discrepancy between luminance sampled on the correspondent points by the pixels of the high resolution image and the set sample values becomes small. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
