BOTTOM QUALITY DISCRIMINATION DEVICE AND BOTTOM QUALITY DISCRIMINATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bottom quality discrimination device and a bottom quality discrimination method capable of discriminating the bottom quality of sea bottom without being influenced by the degree of depth of the sea bottom depth. SOLUTION: A vibrator 1 transmits a transmission pulse having a pulse width in proportion to the sea bottom depth toward the sea bottom. The pulse width is calculated by a transmission pulse width calculation part 8 based on the sea bottom depth calculated from a sea bottom echo signal by a depth calculation part 7. An amplitude data extraction part 9 extracts amplitude data at a time interval in proportion to the sea bottom depth from a prescribed range of the sea bottom echo signal. The amplitude data are TVG-processed by a gain correction part 9, and normalized by a normalization part 12. Further, a characteristic quantity is calculated by a characteristic quantity calculation part 13 in each of a plurality of segments in a series of the normalized amplitude data, and bottom quality discrimination information is generated by a neural network 14 based on the characteristic quantity. The bottom quality discrimination information comprises numerical values showing respectively each similarity between the bottom quality of a discrimination object and a plurality of bottom quality categories (a rock, a stone or the like).
