PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker which can reduce the consumption current of the battery of a backup power source with a simple constitution as well as the consumption power of the display of a liquid crystal display device when an alternative current power is supplied. SOLUTION: The rice cooker is equipped with a heating means 28, a liquid crystal display means 24, a control means 23 for controlling the heating means 28 and the liquid crystal display means 24, a key input means 27, a liquid crystal power circuit 25 for supplying electric power to the liquid crystal display means 24, a liquid crystal power circuit cutoff means 29 for cutting off the liquid crystal power circuit 25, and the backup power source 26 for supplying a direct current power to the liquid crystal power circuit 25 when the alternative current power is not supplied from a commercial power source 21. The control means 23 cuts off the liquid crystal power circuit 25 by the liquid crystal power source cutoff means 29 when the liquid crystal display means 24 is not displaying.
