The aim of the invention is to enhance a process selectivity. The inventive isoprene production method consists in carrying out a liquid-phase interaction between trimethylcarbinole or aqueous solutions thereof and formaldehyde or substances used as the sources thereof in the presence of an acid catalyst aqueous solution at a high temperature and pressure in one or more contact stages using, at the last contact stage, a reaction separating device comprising a heat supply area, a reaction area, in which a pressure is higher than the saturated water vapour pressure corresponding to the temperature in the reaction area, and a separation area, in which a pressure is lower than the saturated water vapour pressure corresponding to the temperature in the reaction area, in restricting a reaction flow during the transition thereof from the reaction area to the separation area, in extracting reaction products and water in the form of a vapour flow from the separation area, in subsequently cooling, condensing and separating it, in directing the liquid flow of the catalyst aqueous solution to extraction and in subsequently returning it to the heating area.
