The invention relates to a solar-powered, stand-alone, programmable Bluetooth data transmission system. More specifically, the invention relates to a stand-alone system for transmitting advertising information, tourism information and tracking information to devices with Bluetooth connectivity, such as mobile phones, PDAs, laptops or any other Bluetooth device, which is intended to be installed outdoors. The inventive system can transmit textual or multimedia (audio and/or video) information and operate in fully stand-alone manner without requiring connection to external networks or an external power source. The system is solar powered and is thus provided with a solar panel and a battery as well as the necessary systems for charging the battery.
