A tuner control method in a digital broadcast receiver is provided to reduce a channel switching time of the digital broadcast receiver according to a channel switching request, thereby providing convenience to a user. TS information per a channel during automatic channel search is detected to determine a modulation method of each channel(S10,S11). A decoding method table per a channel corresponding to the modulation method of each channel is generated and stored(S12). When channel switching is requested(S13), a prestored decoding method table per a channel is read(S14) and a decoding method of a selected channel is selected and controlled(S16,S17).
