摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce HC emission and reduce fuel consumption with respect to a diesel engine. SOLUTION: The diesel engine 10 is provided with: a first intake valve 14a; a second intake valve 14b; a first intake port communicating to the first intake valve 14a; a second intake port communicating to the second intake valve 14b; and an intake valve control means controlling operation of both intake valves to close the second intake valve 14b after making part of air in a cylinder flow reversely to the second intake port through the second intake valve 14b with accompanying rise of a piston 18 after closing the first intake valve 14a in a predetermined operation region.
