PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a general purpose engine, in which a canister is housed to be compact, and easy to maintain since a pipe guiding evaporated fuel to a canister does not pass through the inside of a fuel tank and is exposed, and a pipe connecting the canister with an intake system continuous to an engine body does not bypass the fuel tank to implement the shortest piping. SOLUTION: A cylindrical through hole 14 is formed to the fuel tank 10, the canister 20 is fixed to the through hole 14 through an installation fitting 22, and a pipe 26 purging the evaporated fuel from the canister 20 to the intake system of the engine body from the canister 20 through a clearance between the canister 20 and an inner wall surface of the through hole 14 is installed. The installation fitting 22 has: a retaining member 40 retaining the canister 20; and a fixing member 38 fixing the installation fitting 22 by the through hole 14. The fixing member 38 is made from elastic member to exert an urging force toward the inner wall surface of the through hole 14 when being fitted into the through hole 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
