PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately estimate torque while suppressing increase in the number of measure points of data, in a torque estimation device of a variable compression ratio engine. SOLUTION: Provided are: an MBT parameter estimation model 52 calculating a Wiebe function parameter at MBT, based on an operating condition including a compression ratio; an MBT calculation model 54 calculating the MBT based on the operating condition including the compression ratio, and an ignition retard correction amount estimation model 56 correcting the Wiebe function parameter at the MBT according to ignition timing retard amount with respect to the MBT. A correction amount by the ignition retard correction amount estimation model 56 is determined by the operating condition not including the compression ratio and is constant regardless of the compression ratio.
