PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protector for constructing a manhole, not bulky in carrying or storage, having good work efficiency in a job site, and further securing satisfactory waterproof performance. SOLUTION: In a square protector serving as a peripheral wall of the manhole constructed underground, the respective corner parts A, B are formed by bendable corner members 12. The corner member includes a first corner member 13 and second corner members 14, 14 mounted to be bendable on the first corner member 13, and when the first and second corner members 13, 14 are deployed to the shape of the protector, a waterproof seal material 15 provided on one of the first and second corner members 13, 14 is abutted on the other of the first and second corner members 13, 14, thereby giving the waterproof property to the respective corner parts A, B.
