PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a durable moisture-sensitive latently crimping conjugate fiber. SOLUTION: The moisture-sensitive latently crimping conjugate fiber is a conjugate fiber provided by conjugating polyester with polyamide side by side and satisfies following items. (a) When treating the conjugate fiber with boiling water, performing drying treatment of the obtained by 100°C dry heat and heat-treating at a dry heat temperature of 160°C, the percentage of crimp (DC) is 1.3%-15.0% and, after soaking the heat-treated conjugate fiber in water, the percentage of crimp (HC) is 0.5%-10.0% andΔC(DC-HC)=0.5-7.0. (b) In the stress-elongation curve of the conjugate fiber, the stress at 10% elongation is 1.6-3.5 cN/dtex and the strength is 3.0-4.7 cN/dtex. Further, (c) the polyester is copolymerized with 2.0-4.5 mol% 5-sodium sulfoisophthalic acid based on the whole acid components, and the intrinsic viscosity (IV) is 0.30-0.43.
