PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyurethane and a polyurethaneurea which are very useful for uses of polyurethane elastic fibers, synthetic/artificial leathers and high functional polyurethane elastomers such as TPU. SOLUTION: In producing a polyurethane from (a) a polyether polyol obtained by a dehydration condensation reaction of a polyol and containing a 1,3-propanediol unit, (b) a polyisocyanate compound and (c) a chain extender, the method for producing the polyurethane comprises doing so in the co-presence of an aprotic polar solvent.
