PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe and handy electric bush cutter of which the stopper is activated surely for braking its reaping blade, even in case on the instant. SOLUTION: This electric bush cutter 10 is provided with an electric motor M that rotates the reaping blade 42, the stopper 48 for stopping the racing of the reaping blade 42; and a main switch 18, a starting switch 38, a right hand-gripped switch 32 and a left hand-gripped switch 28 for regulating these. The stopper 48 is constituted of a pull-type solenoid 58 that includes an exciting coil and a plunger 59, and a braking member 64 attached at the tip end of the plunger 59, and is constituted so that under the condition where the main switch 18 and starting switch 38 are in on states, when any one of the right hand-gripped switch 32 and the left hand-gripped switch 28 goes into an off state; and then the electric motor M is stopped and also the racing of the reaping blade 42 is braked, by having the stopper 48 operate and push so as to bring the braking member 64 attached at the tip end of the plunger 59 into contact with the reaping blade 42.
