INCREASING THE CLADDING-TO-CORE RATIO(D/D) OF LOW D/D RATIO CORE RODS IN OPTICAL FIBER PREFORMS

A method for increasing the cladding-to-core ratio(D/d) of low D/d ratio core rods in optical fiber performs is provided to reducing a manufacturing cost by simplifying processing steps when manufacturing optical fiber performs. A method for increasing the cladding-to-core ratio(D/d) of low D/d ratio core rods in optical fiber performs comprises the following steps: a step for selecting a plurality of core body pieces(20~30); a step for inserting core body pieces among inside terminals of a glass cylinder(32); a step for mounting the glass cylinder and the core body pieces vertically inserted in a furnace; and a step for breaking an outer diameter of cylinder down to a size which is determined in order to form the core rod(40).
