<p>The method involves providing double-sided open channels (5) of a honeycomb filter (7) made of ceramic material. Unipolar current voltages are selected such that the ratio of drift velocity of loaded soot particles in a field direction of the electrical field produced in the channels, to a channel height is larger or equal to a ratio of the middle flow rate of a gas flow in the channels to the channel length.
