The apparatus has a corner pressing device (40) comprising a corner pressing element (42) with corner pressing surfaces. The surfaces are cut into each other below an angle, and the corner pressing element is provided in such a manner that the element is separated by an edge material (2) pressed on a workpiece (4). A pressing element (32) rolls up on the edge material, and the corner pressing element sectionally surrounds the pressing element. An independent claim is also included for a method for gluing an edge material on a workpiece.
