<p>The parent patent claims a process for making thin leather-like materials by forming a negative impression of the article to be fabricated in silicone material with a low dielectric loss, impregnating a sheet of absorbent material such as PVC with a plastic material in powder or paste form, ready to be gelled, of the same chemical nature as the sheet e.g. of PVC and likewise having a high coefficient of dielectric loss, placing on the sheet a support such as leather, fabric etc., compressing the assembly and applying an H.F. field to fuse the materials. Coloured articles can now be obtd. by applying coloured pigments to the hollow portions of the mould so that during gelling the colours combine with the plastic materials to colour the mass. If required rigid layers may be formed by utilising sheets of absorbent material impregnated with plastic paste or powder having a lower proportion of plasticiser than other portions. Additionally a material such as glass fibre, felt, cotton or rubber may be included.</p> |
