The injector has a fluid path, which leads from a high pressure connection to a sealing seat (33). The fluid path runs away over a closing piston (58), which is coupled with a valve element (28). The fluid path includes a flow choke (68) over the closing piston. An area, which lies between the closing piston and the high pressure connection, of the fluid path includes a relief valve (70), which opens out into the fluid path. The closing piston is in the ring shape, and is arranged coaxially to the valve element.
