A discharging electrode for a surface light source, and a surface light source and a backlight unit having the same are provided to reduce the heating by decreasing an electrode area and improve discharging efficiency. A discharging electrode for a surface light source includes: a first electrode(260) and a second electrode(270) which are arranged alternately at a portion of a light source body; and plural first protrusions(264a,274a) and plural second protrusions(264b,274b) which are protruded in the opposite directions of the first electrode and the second electrode. The first protrusions and the second protrusions are arranged alternately.
