<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plane luminescent light source capable of uniformly emitting light with a small number of light sources, a downright backlight and a signal light using the same. <P>SOLUTION: With the plane luminescent light source provided with a light guide plate having a top face and a bottom face opposing each other and a plurality of light sources emitting light of the light source incident from the bottom face side of the light guide plate from the top face side, the light guide plate is provided with a plurality of light-incident parts optically separated and a diffusion part having in common the light coming in from the light-incident parts, each light-incident face for the plurality of the light sources is in opposition to each of the plurality of the light sources. Like this, by separating functions of the light-incident parts and the diffusion part capable of emitting uniform light, light of each light source of the limited number is made the most use of to a maximum degree, while, an extent of mixture is enhanced, and thus a luminous observation face with a high brightness and uniformity can be obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
