Alpha amino-acids

(A) alpha-Amino-acids of general formula:- (I) M = alkyl, H or alkali metal R3 and R4 = H and/or alkyl or R3 and R4, when in o-position, together form a methylene group. n = 0, 1 or 2 (B) Acid addition salts of (I) with organic and inorganic acids. (C) Intermediates in the synthesis of (I) (see "Preparation"). (I) are active as decarboxylase-inhibitors in man and animals. Also very valuable anti-hypertensive agents which may be used in cases of virulent hypertension. May also be used as intermediates in the production of norepinephrinic cpds. which are used as pressor-agents.
