Xanthane gum basic salts prepn - by double decompsn reaction with basic aluminium salt

Basic Al salts of xanthane gum are prepd. by allowing a basic Al salt to react with a water sol.-dispersion of xanthane gum in the form of an alkali metal salt. Basic Al salt is of formula:- R-COO-Al(OH)2, (where R is polysaccharide radical), is insol. in aq. medium and is readily separated from the medium.
