METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DECODING/ENCODING OF A VIDEO SIGNAL

A scalable decoding/encoding method of a video signal and an apparatus thereof are provided to define syntax for CODEC compatibility, thereby increasing the compatibility between different CODECs. A partial picture of the first temporal spot is obtained. A full picture of the second temporal spot positioned after the first temporal spot is decoded with reference to the partial picture. A level on a scalable domain of the partial picture is the lower level than the level on the scalable domain of the full picture.
