A method and apparatus for diagnosing cold or hot habitude of patient is provided to diagnose chillness and fever of the patient objectively by comparing the intrinsic basal metabolism of patient with the size of the actual basal metabolism. A method and apparatus for diagnosing cold or hot habitude of patient is comprised of steps: Inputting the diagnostic parameter of patient(S1); calculating the intrinsic basal metabolism of patient based on the inputted diagnostic parameter(S3); calculating the actual basal metabolism of patient based on the inputted diagnostic parameter(S4); comparing the calculated intrinsic basal metabolism of the patient with the actual basal metabolism and diagnosing chillness and fever of the patient(S5). The diagnostic parameter comprises at least one of the sex, height, the body temperature, the weight, age, the pulse frequency, the pulse width of patient.
