The technical outcome is achieved due to that, for each interval Ta, the number J of signals simultaneously transmitted over a communication channel is determined, as well as optimum combination of modulation types used in transmitting these signals so as to maximise transmission capacity of the communication channel. Signals are transmitted through N transmission channels and then received through M reception channels on a given sequence of time intervals Te<Ta. On each time interval Te, the set of communication channels is evaluated. A channel matrix H is formed from signal transmission coefficients on each of the given communication channels. A preliminary linear transformation matrix is formed, as well as a final linear transformation matrix. J signals are generated and transmitted through N transmission channels such that, each signal is transmitted through each of the N transmission channels with the corresponding weight coefficient. The signals are received over M reception channels. Each of the J transmitted signals is defined as a sum of signals of M reception channels with weight coefficients.
