<p>Modacrylic filaments which retain their natural gloss during heat-treatment and subsequent dyeing are spun from polymer solns. prepd. by incorporating 0.5-5 (pref. 0.5-3) wt.% monomer of formula: H2C=CRR1-SO3M (I) (where R is H or 1-6C alkyl; R1 is -CH2-, -CH2CH2-, -CO-NH-C6H4-, -CO-CH2-, -CO-CH2CH2-, -CH2-O-C6H4-, -CHR-O-C6H4- and/or -CHR-O-C6H3R- and M is H, NH4 or a salt-forming component) in cpolymerisable material contg. 35-85 wt.% acrylonitrile and >=1 further mono-olefinic monomer, pref. contg. halogen, e.g. CH2=CCl2, CH2=CHBr. Pref. (I) is Na sulphophenyl methallyl ether.</p> |
