#CMT# #/CMT# The device (1) has a dielectric type electroactive polymer actuator (2) generating actuating force applied to a self-amplification unit for amplifying the force. The actuator transmits the amplified force to a friction element (6) such that the friction element contacts with a rotating element (7) i.e. wheel to be braked. The amplification unit has rollers (4) arranged between corners (3, 5) for assuring a mechanical connection between the corners. A stop limits a lateral displacement of the corners from the amplification unit. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Self-amplified braking device for being assembled on a wheel of a motor vehicle (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The actuator is tightened and shortened, during failure of power supply of the actuator, so that the actuator is withdrawn from the corner and deactivate the device, thus ensuing functioning safety of the device. The configuration of the device requires less mechanical part outside of the actuator to directly produce a linear movement on the corner, so that the device is simple in structure. The actuator has large bandwidth above 1000 hertz, so that the device is dynamic. The actuator is simple and compact, and the power electronics of the actuator is compact, so that the device is compact. The actuator can be actuated using less voltage.
