PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold clamping device which can prevent a molded object released from a mold, dust, refuse, etc. from entering a section, into which intrusion of them is not desirable, such as a linear motor and a desired spot. SOLUTION: This mold clamping device 100 comprises a frame Fr and a movable platen 112 arranged on the upper part of the frame Fr, in a freely advancing/receding manner in relation to a fixed platen 111. In addition, the lower base 200, of the movable platen 112, of a horizontally projecting shape to the fixed platen 111 side rather than a mold mounting surface 112-a of the movable platen 112, is arranged at the lower part of the movable platen 112.
