<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compose a proton conductor excellent in proton conductivity even in a dry state. <P>SOLUTION: The proton conductor is formed of a porous body as a substrate and a proton-conducting polymer 10 covalently bonded to inner surfaces of pores of the porous body. The proton conducting polymer 10 comprises a main chain 12 and a plurality of branched side chains 14 extending radially from the main chain 12, and a proton conducting salt 24 existing at the end of the branched side chains 14. The proton-conducting polymer 10 has a substantially cylindrical structure in which the salts 4 can be circumscribed by a virtual circle C having a center on the cross-sectional center of the main chain 12 such that a radial direction of the virtual circle C is perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the main chain 12. The salts 24 are located on the peripheral wall of the substantially cylindrical structure. Protons are transferred between the adjacent salts 24, so that a conduction channel is formed on the peripheral wall of the cylindrical structure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
