PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device and a route operation method that can respect a driver's preference and will. SOLUTION: When using a toll road during the travel of a vehicle, information on an entrance interchange (entrance IC) and an exit interchange (exit IC) of the toll road is stored in a memory 102. In making the operation of a recommended route, if a passing section of the toll road exists in the recommended route operated without considering passage history, whether the interchange (IC) meeting predetermined conditions exists in IC information stored as the passage history is determined. Upon determining that the IC meeting the predetermined conditions exists in the IC information, it is set to use the IC which meets all the predetermined conditions, as the entrance IC instead of the entrance IC on the initially operated recommended route.
