<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric brake device and its controlling method, which both improves motor rotational frequency in a situation requiring high responsiveness without flowing electric current which does not contribute to toque, and secures quietness in a situation which does not require high responsiveness. <P>SOLUTION: When it is determined that rapid pressure intensification is required in Step 6, that an output voltage command is higher than sine wave output possible voltage in Step 7, and that motor rotating speed is large in Step 9, a motor is driven by 180°rectangular wave drive.
