PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily instruct and operate a TV program received by a television receiver from a portable terminal in a television system. SOLUTION: The television system includes a television and a portable telephone. The television mutually communicates with the portable telephone. The television functions as a DMR (Digital Media Renderer) and a DMS (Digital Media Server), and the portable telephone functions as a DMC (Digital Media Controller). When the portable telephone transmits a command for a program information acquisition request for requesting EPG information to the television (S2) while the user views a TV program by using the portable telephone, the television returns the EPG information to the portable telephone (S3). The portable telephone determines whether program information corresponding to the currently viewed TV program is included in the EPG information (S4), and transmits a command for notifying content URI corresponding to the TV program so as so that the television receives and displays a TV broadcast signal of the corresponding TV program (S5) and subsequently transmits a command to request a reproduction start (S6) when the corresponding TV program is included.
