PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image quality by performing correction for resolving misalignment which occurs between the surface and the backside when both sides are read out. SOLUTION: When a document both faces of which are provided with marks for correction in the same position, read signals of the document are detected by main and vertical (two-dimensional) scanning by CCD line sensors or the like. An image processing module loads them as image data in an effective image region. The loaded read images of the document with the marks have misalignment amount ADJ_SUB=N_SUB(surface)-N_SUB(backside) in the vertical scanning direction in Fig. 6A (front face) and B (rear face). Setting of the effective image region on one side is corrected by ADJ_SUB for cancelling the misalignment. Image misalignment between the surface and the backside is resolved by performing the same operations also in the main scanning direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
