PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To pay change using kinds of currency that are as large as possible, other than the designated kind of coin. SOLUTION: A self-checkout device 101 includes a claimed amount calculator 410 for calculating a claimed amount for a commodity sold, a received amount calculator 420 for calculating the received amount of cash inserted, for each kind of currency, a change amount calculator 430 for subtracting claimed amount data from received amount data, and outputting the amount of change, and a change payment device 440 for paying the change for the amount output. The self-checkout device includes an added amount calculator 450 for calculating an added amount that makes the value of a predetermined digit zero from the last place of the amount of change, and a reporting device 460 for reporting information that indicates the added amount to the purchaser.
