PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer for electrostatic latent image development that exhibits less change in bulk density, even with respect to environmental changes, having high toner density controllability and stably obtaining an image with superior gradation. SOLUTION: The developer for electrostatic latent image development comprises a carrier and toner, wherein the carrier has a core material comprising a magnetic powder dispersed in resin, and a resin coating layer containing a conductive powder and coating the core material; and the toner is prepared by externally adding at least a metal oxide to the surface. The layer thickness of the resin coating layer is larger than the volume average particle diameter of the magnetic powder, and Net intensity, derived from metals in the metal oxide on the carrier surface by fluorescent X-ray analysis, satisfies a given relationship.
